Comet Signs 166K-Square-Foot Lease

Sign company inks 166K-square-foot lease at I-10 and 410 East

San Antonio-based Comet Signs is tripling its local footprint with the lease of a 166,000-square-foot warehouse at the corner of Interstate 10 East and I-410 East.

The industrial sign maker — which counts H-E-B LP, Whataburger and Valero Energy Corp. among its long list of clients — was founded in San Antonio in 1958 by Arthur S. Sitterle Jr. and operates six locations throughout Texas. The company was most recently operating in a 50,000-square-foot warehouse at 235 W. Turbo Drive in North Central San Antonio that included a 9,900-square-foot office. Now, Comet Signs has expanded into the entirety of 5003 Stout Drive, a 166,000-square-foot warehouse with a 15,000-square-foot office.

Though the property’s owner is still listed as Travis Commercial Real Estate, which was aquired by JLL in 2016, JLL and HPI Real Estate Services & Investments confirmed that 5003 Stout Drive was bought by HPI in early July before Comet Signs signed a 10-year lease on the property in late October. The purchase price was undisclosed. Before Comet Signs’ lease, the property had sat vacant for two years following the departure of Harland Clarke.
